Welcome and thank you for your interest in the Department of Psychology at Virginia State University.
The VSU Psychology program is based on innovative research, community based practice and a commitment to undergraduate learning. We understand that teaching and learning is a partnership and we seek to create an environment in which students learn about themselves and learn to appreciate their own academic skills and abilities. In addition, our students gain an understanding of the vast depth and diversity of human behavior.
Our faculty research expertise include clinical and health-related research, cognitive science, neuroscience, human development and social psychology. After completing our undergraduate program, students are prepared to enter various fields in social services, human resources , health care and business, to name a few. Our graduate program in Health Psychology offers degrees at the Master's and Doctoral level and offers students an opportunity to probe into questions regarding the behavioral components of both chronic disease and health and wellness.
Again, we appreciate your interest and invite you to come by our offices on the first floor of the Hunter McDaniel building. We look forward to meeting you.
